Mad Men – My New Obsession
The good news is that I’m watching less reality tv these days. The less good news is that this doesn’t necessarily mean a decrease in my tv consumption. My latest obsession is Mad Men – made even better because the first 2 seasons are available On Demand!
(For Comcast customers, Season one is scheduled to be On Demand for 6 weeks, beginning June 8, and Season two is scheduled for 6 weeks, beginning July 20.)
It’s a visually stunning show that captures the lives of men and women who work at Sterling Cooper, a New York ad agency, set in the 1960′s. In all actuality, the show is actually quite depressing – filled with infidelity, unfulfilled lives, deception, and loneliness. Not unlike much of the reality tv I’ve been addicted to until now. Just better acting.

The actors are skilled at revealing subtle emotions and their vulnerability makes them seem so familiar. You can’t help but want to follow the characters through the twists and turns of their lives. Completely unpredictable and totally addictive.
